If there’s anything that I hear time and time again it’s this…

I know I should be writing emails, but I’m just too busy.”

Or this…

It’s on my to-do list, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet.”

Ok people, let me give it to you straight – if you want to make money doing the thing that your heart is calling you to do then you’ve got to start working your email list like a champ.

I know, I know…between being everything to everyone at home and in your business it seems like a lot.  You’re not only managing your household, but you’re also trying to keep customers happy, keep your bookkeeping straight, and think about how you’re going to start turning a profit in your business without working yourself to the bone.

Friend, I hear you.

But if there is one thing that you could do to determine the rate at which your business succeeds or fails it would be to start consistently engaging with your email list.  Above all (yes, even more than social media) it is the most reliable and impactful way to reach your audience.

Let me demystify this for you, because I once thought the same thing as you do now.  It’s a mindset shift, but nurturing your list is the number one way to ensure you always have a full pipeline of new business.  If that doesn’t sound like a good reason to shift your mindset, I don’t know what does!

We’re going to start with the basics.  Ready?

How to find your people

Please, for the love of all things holy, only spend your marketing budget on high-probability prospects.  Don’t waste your time, money, or energy on people who will likely never buy anything from you.

So how do you screen for qualified prospects?  You’ve got to bribe them to sign up for your list by giving them something they find valuable.   Remember, this is an ethical type of bribe and is the most effective way of sifting and sorting through the millions of people on this earth to find the ones that are interested in what you have to offer.

Do this by creating a lead generating magnet (also called an opt-in offer) and encourage qualified prospects to identify themselves.

If they say, ‘yes’ to the thing that you’re offering, they have now identified themselves as a high-probability prospect.

Remember that the goal of your opt-in offer is simply to generate leads, add them to your email list and start nurturing them consistently.

This simple strategy will increase the effectiveness of any advertising campaigns by 1,233%.

Ok, you have a qualified email list, now what?

Yea, so I’m going to tell you the one critical element that separates the cubs from the lions.  Capturing the email addresses of your ideal customers is one thing, but what you do with those leads is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Time to start nurturing your email list.

When you nurture your list consistently, over time you can build a huge pipeline of potential customers who will have you at the top of their mind when they feel ready to buy.  But what’s really great is that these people will already be primed to do business with you because you are consistently offering them value.  There’s no convincing or hard sells, the sale is just the next logical step in the process.

Sounds good, right?

This is why your email marketing strategy and the relationships you build through it will become the most valuable asset in your business.  Because when your prospect is ready to buy you will most definitely be the first person they think of.

You can do this in three simple steps:

  1. Create an irresistible opt-in offer with the intention of targeting people who are the most interested in what you’re selling.  Make sure you are addressing the most common problem your prospect faces and then give them a quick solution to that problem.  *Don’t forget the done-for-you templates in the shop.
  2. Automatically add them to your email list.  Do this through connecting your freebie to your email service provider.
  3. Create an automated nurture sequence and provide them with value.  Be consistent so that you are sure to stay on top of their minds.

I cannot stress it enough, this strategy is one of the most ethical and painless ways of selling because it’s based completely on trust and an exchange of value.

I don’t know about you, but I can really get behind that.

Creating an email nurture sequence is an effective passive system that will continue to work for you even while you sleep.  Once you’ve written your email sequence you can automate it and know that anytime anyone signs up to your list they are going to start getting loved and served with intention and integrity.

What to say, how to say it

Ok, now this is the hardest part, but once you do it, it’s done!

Let’s start writing your automated email nurture sequence.

An easy way to get started is to simply introduce yourself and your business, set expectations and identify ways for them to learn more by calling them to action.

It could look something like this:

  • Send your freebie and go in a little bit deeper about how it can and should be used.
  • Introduce yourself – who is the person behind the brand?  Create an authentic human connection.
  • Share some blog articles in your archive that are relevant to your freebie.
  • Set expectations on what you will be sending them and how often.
  • Give them insights on what kinds of topics you’ll be covering.
  • Share any promotions or events that are coming up or that they should look out for.
*Still not quite sure what to write in your email nurture sequence?  No worries! I’ve written 6 email templates to help you get started.  These templates are intentionally curated and designed based on human behavior.  Plug & play! It doesn’t get easier (or smarter) than this!*

Building solid ground

Yes, it takes time and money to build a solid foundation for your marketing strategy, but that’s how you build anything resilient, long lasting and strong.  Once you put in the initial time and energy at the start, after that it’s just maintenance and refinement.

Being able to automate follow ups consistently is a cost effective and scalable way of building up a huge pipeline of interested and motivated prospects.

Some of these prospects will convert into customers immediately, but others may not convert for weeks, months or even years later.  My point is, by the time your prospect is ready to buy, you’ve already built a solid relationship with them based on value and trust.

This makes YOU the most logical choice when it is time for them to make a buying decision.

Time to take action!

Friend, Your time is now.  Don’t miss the moment!

Ruby
