Convert your dream clients into paying clients in 3 easy steps

“When you are truly authentic, there can be no competitors.”

Do you ever find yourself in a position where you have to work really hard to book clients who are actually willing to pay you for your services, gifts, and talents?

Do you ever get frustrated when your prospects tell you how great they think you are and how much they “wish” they could work with you, but found someone who is a little bit “cheaper”?

This is definitely one of the most difficult things I’ve come across as an entrepreneur.  Sometimes it can be downright soul crushing and can actually make me feel like giving up.

Never fear!  There’s a way of attracting your dream client and actually converting them to a paying client without feeling like you’re trying to sell anything at all.  It’s a smart, ethical way of doing business and I’m going to teach you how to do it!

Every business, every industry, faces this dilemma, especially if you’re in an oversaturated market like coaching, for instance.  Did you know that coaching is one of the fastest growing businesses in the United States?   The competition is fierce and everyone is doing everything they can to stay in the game.

So, what’s the secret sauce?  How do you stay in business without lowering your prices?  How do you maintain the integrity of your brand, your principals, your vision?

Entre”PRO”neur tip – Never compete on price

No one will ever value your God-given gifts and talents if you start to compete on price.

You are the expert.  Everything that you know and have learned is yours and you’ve spent years crafting your skills for this reason alone.  You.  Are.  Worth.  It.

So, are you ready to up level the playing field and attract your dream client in a truly authentic way?

Here you go…

#1 – Identify the HERO in your brand – aka. your dream client

Here’s what you are not – you are not the hero of your brand.  Your dream client is the hero.  You, my friend, are the hero’s guide.  Your job is to guide your hero on how they can save the day!

One of the biggest mistakes most businesses make is that they believe that they are the hero and they are going to “save their client”.  Wrong.  Your client needs you to show them how they can be the hero in their own life.

Often times I hear business owners talking about how they will work for anyone who is willing to pay them what they’re asking for.  You will only know this isn’t true the first time you work with a “less than ideal client”.

First and foremost, you must remember that you didn’t decide to start your own business just because you need the money.  You started your own business because you want to be happy and to make a greater impact on the world.  When you start working with people who do not align with your highest principals and values, you will not be happy.  These people will drain you of your energy and ask more from you than you are willing to give.

Trust me.  I’ve been there.  The money isn’t worth it if you’re unhappy and left feeling gross and defeated.

Anatomy of a dream client:

  • Values you for your gifts and talents and will pay you what you’re worth
  • Values your time
  • Trusts and believes in you
  • Respects you and your business

Craft your dream client:

You have to really understand the problems of your dream client in order for you to know how to properly solve them.  Answer these questions and refer to the answers often – especially when you’re building out your marketing strategy.

  1. What is their age?
  2. Are they male or female?
  3. How do they spend their days?
  4. What are their values?
  5. What do they struggling with?

#2 – Create real value and solve your dream client’s problems

Once you know who you it is you’re talking to you can really start to identify how you can make their lives easier by doing everything you can to solve their problems (as it relates to your industry, of course!).

How can you go the extra mile to make sure your dream client feels seen, heard and understood?

What can you do to make sure your dream client feels safe in your care?

How can you deliver even more than your dream client could have ever expected?

People don’t usually make a purchase the first time they discover a new brand, product or service.  It usually takes 3 or 4 “touches” before they even consider working with someone.  So, ask yourself, what can you offer your dream client that highlights your knowledge and expertise?  How can you build so much trust that hiring you is an absolute “no-brainer?”

Guide your dream client into glory

Even if your dream client never buys from you, offering value elevates you as the expert in your field.  It does good for the community and you are serving from a highly ethical place.  These are some of my favorite ideas:

  1. Teach them something relevant to your industry
  2. Create a FREE guide
  3. Start a loyalty program
  4. Offer a resource library
  5. Share inspiration

#3 – Flex your “Unique Quality” muscles, win over your dream client by being YOU

It’s really easy to feel like you need to be like “that other successful business” in your industry in order for you to make money doing what you love.  But that is so far from the truth.  Copycat syndrome is the #1 killer of all brands because it simply never works.

None of us are the same.  We all have our own unique stories and experiences that have brought us to the place we are in today.  If you feel like you’re not being seen, it’s probably because you are blending in too much.

Remember, you are not just a business, you are a brand.  (I wrote an article about the difference between having a business and having a brand.  You can learn more about it here).

Your unique qualities are what is going to separate you from everyone else in your industry.

Own your greatness and make your dream client fall in love with you

Don’t let your dream client hit the snooze button when they visit your website or your social media platforms.  Do this instead:

  1. Identify what makes you different
  2. Share “behind the scenes” moments of your brand
  3. Share “behind the scenes” moments of your life
  4. Identify your core values and talk about them
  5. Share your story, why you do what you do

When you apply these 3 simple strategies to your brand you are setting yourself up for a win.  Your value will be clear, you will be serving from a very ethical place, and you will be offering value even if your prospects never buy from you – which positions you as an expert and leader in your industry.
