HOW PHOTOGRAPHY FILLS A DEEP NEED FROM WITHIN
Photography connects us in ways that can change the course of our lives. The definitive moment in my life was the minute my son was born. It’s not uncommon. Babies are born by the thousands every day all over the world. But it was my moment. It happened to me. And for me it was like nothing that I have ever experienced in my life. It was personal. And although I wasn’t the one holding a camera somebody in that hospital room was & lucky for me they captured that moment. I brought another beautiful healthy human being into the world. When I look back on this photo I see something that is bigger than me. I see Light. I see Love. I see my Life redefined.
“A good Photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels” – Ansel Adams
Don’t Miss the Moment.
We are all on this journey through life together. All of us have definitive moments that shape who we are or who we are to become. These moments give us the opportunity to subscribe to a different perspective. It heightens our awareness of the passage of time & we finally learn to appreciate it.
When our children are born we all find ourselves reluctantly accepting the reality that time is limited & compressed. You start to envision your kid learning to ride a bike & then learning to drive a car. You visualize your kid going to the Senior Prom & then all of a sudden they are moving out of the house & off to College. These thoughts can make your heart sink & your eyes well up with tears. You can seemingly look into the future while simultaneously looking at the past. The photograph captures it all.
Within the Frame.
Photography is a combination of light & life. It allows us to get beneath the surface & see things more clearly. It is an opportunity to gain depth & insight on that which might otherwise have been lost forever. What happens when you revisit an old photograph? You probably have a multitude of emotions that resurface – nostalgia, joy, grief, regret? These memories that are captured carry a great weight; our connection with the past. It’s the narrative to your story. Your photos are a gift to offer the future & an opportunity to share the meaningful history of our lives.
We all have a deep need to stay connected to our past. Through our own personal experiences & adventures in life, photography is the visual key that can help us to lock the passage of time.
