The one key marketing tool you should not ignore
When I stepped out of the corporate world and into entrepreneurship I knew that it was going to be hard. I knew there would be a massive learning curve. I was ok with that. But of all the things that I’ve learned since I started my business there’s one thing that I wish I had known before I got started. That in order for me to have a successful business I was going to be writing A LOT of copy.
This was a hard and fast lesson for me. I had to learn to love writing. And when I first started I had no idea what I was doing. But I promise you, if you want to turn your passion into profits than this is the one key marketing tool you should not ignore.
Honestly, I thought starting a business would be pretty easy to figure out. I thought my gifts, talents and ideas would be enough and people would come flocking to me because my work spoke for itself.
Oh how wrong I was!
Those things, no matter how good you are at whatever you do, when you’re just getting started are simply not enough.
I desperately wanted the freedom that comes with entrepreneurship. Freedom to build a vision of my own, to touch lives, and to create a lasting impact on my community and the world. The perks and security of working a daily 9 to 5 just wasn’t cutting it for me anymore.
So it became my mission to learn what I was missing and how I could do it right.
I did all the things and followed all the rules – like build an email list and consistently send emails. I was feeling pretty good about it, I got a lot of engagement, but not really a lot of conversions.
Conversions are what you need to build a thriving business.
“Learning to write good copy is the one key ingredient you need to leverage your brilliant idea and turn it into income.”
Just like most entrepreneurs who give up, I got tired of spinning my wheels and writing emails that virtually got me nowhere. I never considered myself a writer and if I could figure out a way to market my business without having to write I probably would.
There is no other way.
Learning how to write persuasive copy is probably the single most valuable skill to have as an entrepreneur. It’s more important than even your product or service. Because if you can’t help people understand the problem you solve you will never be able to grab your audiences attention and compel them to take action.
I continue to see entrepreneurs make the same mistakes I did when I first got started. Marketing is not only about attracting clients, but the ability to unlock the hearts of your customers. You do that through strategic and persuasive copywriting.
If you ever feel like you’re speaking into the void, not getting the response or reaction you desire take the time and be mindful about what and how you’re communicating to your audience.
Learning to sell without being sales-y is an art. It takes practice, patience and hard work. You need to be eloquent and ethical to build a tribe who trusts you.
There’s really no need to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on advertising. All it takes is the ability to nurture your audience with empathy, love and compassion.
Take the time to fine tune your marketing message and your communication.
Developing a strong love for writing is the one thing I wish I knew before taking the leap into entrepreneurship. I spend a lot of time creating content and believe me it was painful at first. But since I’ve learned this skill it has been the essential missing piece that has brought in the sales, profits and success that I dreamed about.
I want to give YOU the best plan of attack for learning to write persuasive copy. I want to teach you all about how focusing on your marketing message will transform your business just as it transformed mine.
